Investment min asserts plan to turn Egypt into regional auto production, export platform
Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Mohamed Farid reaffirmed the government’s commitment to positioning Egypt as a leading production and export hub in the automotive industry, emphasizing that ongoing investments and planned expansions by Nissan Egypt reflect strong confidence in the Egyptian market and its competitive potential.The remarks came during a meeting with officials from Nissan Egypt.
Discussions focused on the company’s current projects, expansion plans, and strategies to boost production and exports
Farid noted that the ministry is working to enhance Egypt’s investment climate and create a more attractive business environment by streamlining procedures, accelerating licensing and approvals, and offering customs facilitation measures.
He also highlighted government support for establishing direct shipping routes to facilitate Egyptian exports’ access to foreign markets and reduce transportation costs.
He stressed that the new expansions mark a significant step toward solidifying Egypt’s position as a regional center for automotive manufacturing and exports.
He said that locally produced vehicles could increasingly target global markets, leveraging advanced Japanese expertise alongside Egypt’s strategic geographic location and its network of trade agreements that support exports.
