Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk announced a record-breaking surge in Egyptian agricultural exports during 2025, with volumes reaching 9.5 million tons. This represents an increase of over 800,000 tons compared to the previous year.

In a Monday statement, Farouk revealed that the total value of fresh and processed agricultural exports reached 11.5 billion dollars, a first-time milestone for the sector. The minister noted that agricultural exports now constitute 24% of Egypt's total outbound trade, cementing the sector's role as a primary driver of economic growth and foreign currency inflows.

The minister attributed the growth to a state strategy focused on food security and market diversification. Egypt exports 405 different agricultural products to 167 countries. Farouk highlighted the success of the Agricultural Quarantine authorities in opening 25 new markets this year across East Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

Farouk also pointed to the digital transformation of quarantine services as a key factor in streamlining inspection and certification. He noted that the full digitalization of the system has significantly reduced customs clearance times and ensured product traceability from the field to the final consumer.
