Watch IT has announced a major new original series inspired by a true story. The project represents the first time a MENA-based streaming service has produced an international series under its own original banner, underscoring Watch IT’s ambition to deliver premium, globally competitive content from the region.

Developed in collaboration with leading regional and international partners, including AR Content, Big Dreams Entertainment and Aroma Studios, led by Tamer Mortada, the series reflects Watch IT’s strategic focus on elevating regional storytelling through world-class production values, reported by Egypt Today.

Filmed entirely in Egypt, the production made use of large-scale sets, authentic locations and advanced visual effects, highlighting the country’s capabilities as a global-standard production hub and reinforcing its growing role in international filmmaking.

The series is helmed by an award-winning creative team known for excellence in cinematic design, visual effects and storytelling. It is directed, produced and co-written by Leslie Greif, whose previous credits include The Offer and The Hatfields & The McCoys. The project also brings together a high-profile international cast featuring Joel Kinnaman, Waleed Zuaiter, Dar Salim, Talia Balsam, Matt Barr, Christopher McDonald and Tom Berenger.

Behind the scenes, the creative lineup includes production designer Adrian Curelea and hairstyling artist Giorgiana Gregorini. The screenplay was written by acclaimed writers Daniel Stiepleman, Graham Sack and Jonathan Wakeham, while the executive producing team features prominent industry figures such as Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner Alexander Rodnyansky, alongside Greif, Mortada and others.

In a major step for international distribution, Watch IT has also entered into an exclusive streaming partnership with HBO. Under the agreement, HBO will stream the series globally, while Watch IT will retain exclusive rights across Egypt and the wider MENA region. The collaboration reinforces Watch IT’s role in amplifying regional talent while delivering content that meets international standards.

The upcoming series reflects Watch IT Originals’ ambition to merge Hollywood-level expertise with regional creativity, offering a cinematic experience designed to resonate across the Middle East and beyond.
