Egypt’s exports of fresh and processed agricultural products reached a record US$11.5 billion in 2025, highlighting the sector’s expanding role in the national economy, according to Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk. Agricultural exports accounted for nearly 24 per cent of Egypt’s total exports, reinforcing agriculture as a key driver of economic growth. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

Alaa Farouk described 2025 as an exceptional year for the sector, noting that total export volumes are expected to reach around 9.5 million tonnes — more than 800,000 tonnes higher than in 2024. The increase reflects steady growth across a wide range of crops and export destinations.

An official report by the Central Administration of Agricultural Quarantine showed that citrus fruits topped Egypt’s agricultural exports at 2 million tonnes, confirming the country’s position as the world’s largest orange exporter for the sixth consecutive year. Potatoes ranked second with 1.3 million tonnes, followed by sweet potatoes, which recorded strong growth to 387,000 tonnes.

Other major exports included 336,000 tonnes of fresh and dried beans, 288,000 tonnes of fresh onions, 191,000 tonnes of grapes, 136,000 tonnes of pomegranates, 126,000 tonnes of mangoes, 68,000 tonnes of tomatoes and 64,000 tonnes of strawberries, with particularly strong demand reported in European markets.
