Egypt’s tourism sector reached a historic milestone in 2025, welcoming nearly 19 million visitors, a 21 percent increase year on year, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy said the results mark a significant achievement and reflect Egypt’s strong competitive position on the global tourism map. He attributed the performance to Egypt’s security and stability, a clear strategic vision, and an integrated approach that highlights the country’s unique and diverse tourism offerings while continuously upgrading service quality.

Egypt’s growth rate far outpaced the global tourism average of around 5 percent, as estimated by the UN World Tourism Organization, reinforcing international confidence in Egypt as a safe and multifaceted destination.

Major airports—including Cairo, Hurghada, Sharm El-Sheikh, and Marsa Alam—led tourist arrivals in 2025, underscoring the wide geographic spread of Egypt’s tourism hubs and their appeal to diverse markets. This performance also reflects ongoing investments in tourism infrastructure, airport modernization, and service improvements.
