Egyptian business leaders to visit South Africa next year

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs Badr Abdelatty affirmed Egypt’s keenness to strengthen cooperation, expand joint investments, and advance economic integration with South Africa. He announced that he will lead a delegation of Egyptian business leaders on an official visit to South Africa next year.

Abdelatty’s remarks came during a meeting held today by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly with 40 representatives from major South African companies, research institutions, and think tanks. He highlighted the historical ties between the two nations as well as Egypt’s diplomatic role in securing the release of the African freedom icon Nelson Mandela. The minister also reviewed ongoing cooperation initiatives and the promising opportunities available in the Egyptian market, particularly in light of government reforms and measures designed to empower the private sector.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Ahmed Ali Sherif, Egypt’s Ambassador to South Africa, and took place only hours after Dr. Madbouly arrived in Johannesburg to lead Egypt’s delegation to the 2025 G20 Summit, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

During the discussions, Abdelatty presented several proposals aimed at boosting cooperation between Egypt and South Africa and increasing joint trade and investment.
