Transavia officially kicked off the 2025/2026 winter season today. The kick-off took place with a festive moment at the gate at Schiphol: the first flight to the Egyptian capital Cairo. The ribbon was cut by Pieter Wensveen, CFO of Transavia, together with the Egyptian ambassador Emad Magdy Hanna Kamel.

The new scheduled service to Cairo will operate three times a week and represents a significant expansion of Transavia's network in North Africa. With this service, Transavia is responding to growing demand from customers who want to discover Egypt, whether for holidays, family visits or business purposes.

Connection to a unique city

Pieter Wensveen, CFO Transavia: ‘With Cairo, we are not only adding a beautiful and historic destination to our network, but also strengthening the connection between the Netherlands and Egypt. We are proud to offer our passengers the opportunity to visit this unique city and look forward to a successful collaboration with our Egyptian partners.’

H.E. Emad Magdy Hanna Kamel, Ambassador of Egypt to the Netherlands: ‘This new connection between Cairo and Amsterdam underlines the strong ties between our countries. With this route, Transavia is opening up new opportunities for tourism, trade and cultural exchange. We look forward to welcoming passengers from the Netherlands to Egypt.’

Start of winter season with new routes

The first flight to Cairo also marks the official start of Transavia's winter season. In addition to Cairo, Transavia will be welcoming several new routes and destinations in the coming weeks:

  • 28 October: Rotterdam – Seville

  • 1 November: Amsterdam – Marsa Alam

  • 3 November: Brussels – Agadir

  • 13 November: Amsterdam – Rabat

  • 10 December: Amsterdam – Oujda

These additions strengthen Transavia's position as a leisure and family airline in Europe and North Africa.
