Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Saturday reviewed progress on the construction of the new passenger terminal “Terminal 4” at Cairo International Airport — one of Egypt’s flagship infrastructure projects aimed at upgrading aviation services and expanding airport capacity, the presidency said in a statement.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh Hafny, Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, and Presidential Financial Advisor Lieutenant General Ahmed El-Shazly.

According to the statement, the new terminal will have an annual capacity of no less than 30 million passengers, raising Cairo International Airport’s total capacity to over 60 million passengers. The facility will adopt advanced smart technologies and digital operation systems to provide what officials described as an “exceptional and fully integrated travel experience.”

Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed El-Shennawy said President Al-Sisi stressed the importance of adopting state-of-the-art systems for air navigation, ground operations, and facility management, while incorporating innovative research-based technologies to build an intelligent and sustainable airport environment that meets international standards.
