Egypt’s annual inflation falls to 10.3% in September
Egypt’s annual inflation rate slowed to 10.3 percent in September 2025, compared to 11.2 percent in August, according to data released by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The agency reported that the nationwide Consumer Price Index (CPI) reached 260.9 points in September, showing a 1.5 percent rise from the previous month. This indicates that, although the overall annual inflation cooled, monthly inflation continued to climb.
CAPMAS attributed the monthly uptick mainly to higher prices of vegetables, which increased by 12.2 percent, along with a 3.5 percent rise in meat and poultry prices and a 1.0 percent increase in ready-made clothing as winter approaches.
Additional increases were seen in housing-related expenses, including actual rent (up 1.2 percent) and maintenance and repair costs (up 1.4 percent). Prices of furniture and household furnishings rose by 1.2 percent, personal care products by 1.5 percent, and ready meals by 0.9 percent.
Conversely, the prices of certain commodities declined during the month, such as fish and seafood (down 0.3 percent), sugar and sugary products (down 0.5 percent), grains and bread (down 0.3 percent), and organized tourism trips (down 0.7 percent).
