Cairo International Airport recorded a notable rise in passenger traffic in August 2025, handling 2.87 million passengers – up from 2.65 million in July and August 2024 – marking monthly and annual growth rates of 8.4 percent and 8 percent, respectively.

Flight traffic also increased, with 20,050 flights in August, compared to 18,729 in July and 19,049 a year earlier, reflecting 7 percent monthly and 5 percent annual growth.

Separately, Egyptian airports earned international recognition for sustainability. Cairo and Hurghada airports won environmental awards from Airports Council International Africa (ACI Africa), while Borg El Arab Airport in Alexandria was honored for waste recycling efforts.

The awards, announced at ACI Africa’s annual general assembly in Lusaka, Zambia, highlighted Cairo airport’s leadership in sustainability and Hurghada’s efforts to reduce landfill waste.

The achievements align with Egypt’s national aviation strategy to enhance airport services, improve environmental performance, and apply global best practices, supported by coordinated efforts across airport authorities and security forces.
