As part of ongoing efforts to support domestic gas production and narrow the gap between consumption and output, Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced the successful addition of two new natural gas wells in the Mediterranean Sea to the country’s production map.

The wells, operated by Burullus Gas Company, are located in the deepwater West Delta and are expected to produce a combined 60 million cubic feet of gas per day.

The first well, Sapphire South Central DP, is the third well in the 11th phase of the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) project.

It has commenced production at around 50 million cubic feet of gas per day, along with 800 barrels of condensate, totaling around 9,400 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

In addition, the company has successfully recommissioned the Scarab D4 well after a prolonged shutdown. The well is now contributing around 10 million cubic feet of gas per day, equivalent to about 1,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
