Egypt plans to channel around US$3 billion into agriculture and irrigation during the 2025/26 fiscal year, the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation announced. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

Of the total, about US$362million will come from public investment, while the private sector is expected to provide nearly US$2.64 billion. Planning and International Cooperation Minister Rania Al-Mashat highlighted the sectors’ importance for food security and for strengthening the country’s industrial base.

The plan sets a target of raising agricultural production to roughly US$76.6 billion in 2025/26, up from an estimated US$68.3 billion this year.

Priorities include expanding land reclamation in Toshka, Sinai, and the New Delta, improving crop yields, upgrading irrigation systems, and scaling up greenhouse projects.
