Egypt has achieved 100 percent self-sufficiency in medicines for chronic diseases, including treatments for heart conditions, hypertension, diabetes, and psychological and neurological disorders, as reported by Sada El-Balad, a partner of TV BRICS.

Data shows that domestic pharmaceutical production now meets 91.5 percent of Egypt’s total demand for medicines, with imports limited to specialized drugs for oncology and immunological conditions.

Industry experts emphasized that chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart disease require continuous treatment and that Egypt has been producing medicines for these conditions for more than 85 years, demonstrating the quality and resilience of the national pharmaceutical sector.

Egypt manufactures most finished medicines locally; the country continues to import 100 percent of the raw materials used in pharmaceutical production.
