Egypt, Bahrain strengthen economic ties at Business Forum in Cairo

Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, inaugurated the Egyptian–Bahraini Business Forum in Cairo today, reaffirming the two nations’ commitment to deepening economic cooperation.


El-Khatib revealed that Bahraini investments in Egypt reached $450 million in 2024, spread across more than 237 companies in diverse sectors. Bilateral trade between the two countries stood at $35.27 million during the same year.


Highlighting Egypt’s transformation, the minister noted the country ranked first in Africa and ninth globally for foreign direct investment inflows in 2024. He emphasized Egypt’s determination to continue reforms aimed at creating a more business-friendly environment, with the goal of ranking among the world’s top 50 nations in investment and trade competitiveness within two years.


El-Khatib underscored Egypt’s readiness to welcome global capital and expertise, citing its strategic location and network of free trade agreements that position it as a gateway to vast regional and African markets. He described Bahrain, with its strengths in financial services, energy, and specialized industries, as an ideal partner for fostering economic integration and innovation.
