Trade between Jordan and Egypt grew by more than 30% in 2024, with Jordanian exports to the Egyptian market climbing at the same pace, according to Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 33rd Jordanian-Egyptian Higher Joint Committee meeting in Amman, co-chaired by Prime Ministers Jaafar Hassan and Moustafa Madbouli, Qudah described the growth as a clear sign of expanding opportunities for Jordan’s private sector.

The two countries agreed to boost their electrical interconnection capacity to 2,000 megawatts and continue enhancing regional energy cooperation under the tripartite framework with Iraq. Two joint technical committee meetings are also scheduled for later this year to address transport and labor issues.

Qudah underscored the importance of removing trade barriers and positioning Egypt as Jordan’s gateway to African and global markets. He also confirmed consensus on nine cooperation agreements covering industry, economy, local development, tourism, and energy.
