Egypt’s Food Exports Hit Record $3.37 B in H1 2025
Egypt’s food industries sector recorded its highest-ever half-year export value in the first half of 2025, with total exports reaching approximately $3.365 billion, according to the Food Export Council. This marks an increase of 6 percent compared to the $3.174 billion registered during the same period in 2024 — a gain of $182 million.
Arab countries continued to be the leading market for Egyptian food exports, purchasing $1.577 billion worth of products. Despite a 4 percent dip in value, this region still accounted for 47 percent of total exports. The European Union followed with imports worth $715 million, representing 21 percent of the total and posting a modest 2 percent growth.
Non-Arab African countries imported $249 million, contributing 7 percent of the total, with a 9 percent year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, exports to the United States soared by 47 percent to reach $230 million, matching Africa’s 7 percent share. Other international markets brought in $585 million, making up 18 percent of total exports with a strong 29 percent jump.
At the individual country level, Saudi Arabia was the top importer of Egyptian food products, with $258 million in imports—a 7 percent rise. The United States followed closely, maintaining its sharp upward trend with $230 million in imports, a 47 percent increase. Sudan ranked third with $163 million, despite a 25 percent decline.
