Egypt’s  Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced on Saturday the arrival of the floating regasification unit “Energean Force” at Jordan’s Aqaba Port, ahead of its planned connection to the Arab Gas Pipeline and entry into service. The unit will regasify liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments according to operational requirements and the national gas grid’s load conditions.

In an official statement, the ministry explained that this step aligns with the first pillar of its strategy to boost production and secure the country’s energy needs. It forms part of an integrated and proactive plan to diversify natural gas input sources to the national grid, enhancing the sector’s capacity to meet local demand and providing greater flexibility in operational planning.

The ministry further noted that the arrival of the “Energean Force” underscores the depth of energy cooperation between Egypt and Jordan, highlighting the shared use of existing infrastructure to advance regional integration.

Previously, the state-owned Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) had signed an agreement to deploy the floating regasification unit as part of a comprehensive system designed to ensure reliable gas supply to the domestic market and vital sectors, including electricity generation and industry. The agreement also seeks to diversify gas inputs to the national network, enhancing resilience and the ability to respond swiftly to emergencies or unexpected developments.
