Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk announced that Egypt’s current fiscal year (2025/26) includes the largest export support budget in the country’s history, with LE 45 billion allocated to boost the sector.

The announcement came during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, where they reviewed the progress on clearing overdue payments to exporters.

This initiative builds on long-standing efforts that began in 2019, in coordination with the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, including the successful Immediate Cash Settlement Program. Over seven phases, the program has provided LE 70 billion in payouts to nearly 3,000 exporting companies.

Kouchouk also detailed the disbursement process for the first wave of payments under a new mechanism managed by the Export Development Fund. The government will release LE 5 billion to around 2,000 companies, representing the first 50% cash installment for shipments made up to the end of June 2024.

Disbursements are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 7.

Due to high demand, the government will reopen applications for companies holding certified claims from the Export Development Fund between August 17 and September 4, 2025.
