Egypt signs new agreement to boost marine conservation and ecotourism
Egypt’s Ministry of Environment has formalised a new cooperation protocol aimed at enhancing marine ecosystem protection and promoting sustainable ecotourism. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.
The agreement was signed between the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency and the Marine Environment Protection Foundation, with Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad witnessing the signing in Cairo.
The protocol is designed to strengthen environmental monitoring, combat overfishing, protect nature reserves, and promote public awareness of marine conservation through educational seminars, outreach campaigns, and environmental camps.
According to the Ministry, the protocol outlines a collaborative framework under which the Environmental Affairs Agency will provide technical oversight and approve project proposals, while the foundation will implement small-scale projects within protected areas, community-based awareness initiatives, and opportunities for volunteer engagement.
