Egypt to resume gas supply to factories on Friday after brief halt
Several industrial facilities had suspended operations after the petroleum ministry enacted emergency measures in response to the military escalation between Israel and Iran. The plan included redirecting gas to essential sectors, cutting supply to some industries, and increasing reliance on fuel oil and diesel at power stations.
Speaking after a cabinet meeting, Madbouly said the state remained committed to ensuring uninterrupted industrial production, stressing that the sector was central to Egypt’s economic and social development goals.
He reviewed ongoing infrastructure works at Ain Sokhna, including preparations to receive floating regasification units, which will boost the national gas grid and meet future demand.
Madbouly also toured several factories in 6 October City this week, including Egypt’s first facility producing ultrasound and MRI machines and another manufacturing TV screens and mobile phones. He said the government would offer more incentives to support industrial growth and promote local production of strategic goods.
He reiterated the state’s push to attract local and international private investment, with the goal of expanding manufacturing capacity and creating jobs.
On the regional front, Madbouly welcomed the ceasefire agreement announced between Iran and Israel, calling it a positive step toward de-escalation. He reaffirmed Egypt’s support for a political resolution and stressed Cairo’s continued engagement with international partners to prevent wider regional instability.
