China plans citizen evacuation from Israel to Egypt on Friday
On Tuesday, Chinese leader Xi Jinping called for a de-escalation of the conflict and said Beijing is opposed to any act that infringes on other countries' sovereignty. Meanwhile, China in recent days has pulled out roughly 800 nationals from Iran, with expectations to evacuate more than 1,000 others.
Governments around the world are racing to evacuate thousands of their citizens caught amid the rapidly escalating Israel-Iran conflict. The scramble began after Israel launched a wave of airstrikes deep inside Iran, targeting military, nuclear, and energy facilities in cities including Tehran, Natanz, and Isfahan.
In a forceful retaliation, Iran responded with over 200 ballistic missiles and drones aimed at Israel as part of a campaign it has named Operation True Promise III, marking a dramatic intensification of hostilities between the two nations.
But with Israeli airspace closed and both nations engaged in heavy missile exchanges, many evacuations are being carried out through third countries.
Indonesia, the United States, Japan, Australia, Pakistan, and India are among the countries actively coordinating evacuation efforts, utilizing both land and sea routes to extract their citizens from the conflict zones.
