According to the CBE, this represents an unprecedented rise compared to the $14.4 billion recorded during the same period of FY2023/2024.

The upward trend continued into the third quarter of the fiscal year, with remittances jumping 86.6 percent year-on-year to reach approximately $9.4 billion between January and March 2025, up from $5.0 billion during the same quarter in 2024.

On a monthly basis, March 2025 alone saw remittance inflows rise by 63.7 percent compared to March 2024, reaching around $3.4 billion, up from $2.1 billion.

In May 2025, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) reported that remittances more than doubled for the 12th month in a row, reaching a record $3.0 billion in February 2025 alone— the highest ever recorded in February.

This shows that remittance inflows continue to grow steadily, showing strong momentum from Egyptians working abroad.

Remittances remain one of Egypt’s most important sources of foreign currency inflows, alongside tourism, Suez Canal revenues, and foreign direct investment. They are a key pillar supporting the country’s economic stability and growth.
