Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat conducted an inspection visit to the facilities of Arabelle Solutions and Framatome in Belfort, France, to oversee the manufacturing progress of turbine generators and associated electrical equipment for Egypt’s Dabaa nuclear power plant.

The visit focused on evaluating the readiness of critical components—particularly those related to turbine generators—and reviewing the status of technical testing for the first unit’s turbine, which is scheduled for delivery to the Dabaa site before the end of 2025.

This inspection forms part of Egypt’s broader national energy strategy aimed at reducing dependence on fossil fuels, increasing the share of clean energy in the power mix, and ensuring steady advancement in the implementation of the peaceful Dabaa nuclear energy project.

Esmat was accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Nuclear Power Plants Authority (NPPA), led by Chairman Sherif Hammouda, and officials from Russia’s Atomstroyexport, including Project Director Alexey Kononenko. The group received detailed presentations from representatives of Arabelle Solutions and Framatome on the manufacturing status and technical readiness of key turbine and generator components. The turbine—hailed as the largest of its kind in Egypt and Africa—was a central focus of discussions.
