Preliminary projections suggest that the third phase of Egypt’s Zohr gas field development will add around 1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas to the field’s overall reserves.

The update was shared during an in-depth workshop at Eni’s headquarters in Milan, Italy, attended by key stakeholders to evaluate the field’s future and long-term production sustainability.

A major highlight of this phase is the planned deployment of a floating processing unit, positioned 220 kilometers offshore. This facility will separate gas and condensates, with production scheduled to commence by 2028.

The workshop also reviewed ongoing exploration and drilling efforts, as authorities maintain close oversight of Zohr’s development to ensure timely execution.

Key topics included the project’s timeline, strategies for reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing safety standards—part of a wider commitment to sustainable energy development.

Meanwhile, drilling operations are actively underway, led by Eni’s Saipem 10000 rig, as part of the broader expansion efforts in the Zohr gas field.
