Sherif El-Kilany appointed to oversee Egypt’s Customs Authority
Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk, has issued two ministerial decrees (Nos. 502 and 503 for 2024) regarding new appointments within the Egyptian Customs Authority.
Appointment of Sherif El-Kilany
According to decree No. 503 of 2024, Sherif Mohamed Fathy El-Kilany, Deputy Minister of Finance, has been appointed to oversee the Egyptian Customs Authority and will take on the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer.
El-Kilany will assume all legal responsibilities of the position until a new head is appointed, in line with the applicable legal procedures.
Transfer of Shahat Ghattouri
In decree No. 502 of 2024, Shahat Abdelbar Ibrahim Ghattouri, who previously served as the head of the Egyptian Customs Authority, has been moved to the role of Sector Consultant at the same senior executive level within the authority.
The decree also outlines that Ghattouri will be transferred to the Ministry of Finance’s General Secretariat after coordination with the Central Organization for Administration.
The changes will take effect immediately, with relevant authorities instructed to implement the decrees.
These appointments reflect the Ministry of Finance’s ongoing efforts to enhance the performance of the Customs Authority and align with the country’s strategic economic goals, aiming to support the national economy and facilitate trade operations.
