This is an effort to alleviate the burden on citizens by reducing the rates of personal spending on public health, according to Mohamed Maait, the Minister of Finance and Chairman of the General Authority for Comprehensive Health Insurance.

Maait also stated that Egypt has succeeded in providing LE 115 billion to support the health sector.

This initiative is in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to expand the umbrella of comprehensive health insurance across the country's governorates.

Furthermore, the Egyptian government seeks to increase the private sector's participation in providing comprehensive health insurance services from 30% to 50%.

The Minister expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in aiding the Egyptian experience with comprehensive health insurance.

In addition, the CEO of the Universal Health Insurance Authority, Mai Farid, revealed that the South Sinai governorate achieved the highest percentage of registration in the first phase of the comprehensive health insurance program, with more than 90% of the population covered.
