Royal Jewelry Museum displays golden chessboard of King Farouk I

The Royal Jewelry Museum displays the possessions collected by the family throughout its rule reflecting their luxurious lifestyle.

The Royal Jewelry Museum in Alexandria announced on Sunday that it is now displaying a unique antique chessboard from the possessions of King Farouk I.


According to the museum administration, the chessboard is made up of 32 pieces of gold featuring statuettes of people and animals, decorated with colored enamel and studded with diamonds.


The Royal Jewelry Museum displays the possessions collected by the family throughout its rule reflecting their luxurious lifestyle.


Among the museum’s holdings is a necklace inlaid with diamonds and emeralds, belonging to the founder of the family, Muhammad Ali Pasha, in addition to golden binoculars inlaid with diamonds, rubies and emeralds, and golden cups inlaid with precious stones.
