Finance Min.: Up to EGP 50 Million of "Change" Offered on Occasion of Eid al-Fitr

The Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait confirmed that the quantities of change were doubled to 50 million pounds instead of 25 million pounds of coins, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr to facilitate on citizens and meet the needs of markets; ensuring the facilitation of buying and selling and avoiding any congestion in parking lots or shops.

The Minister said - in a statement on Wednesday - that the Public Treasury and Mint Service is keeping pace with the “digitization” process in the new republic, and is working with modern technological mechanisms that save time and effort, and within a few years it has been able to double production capacity. "This helped us provide additional amounts of “change” before the seasons and holidays."

On his part, Head of the Public Treasury and Mint Department Hossam Khader, said, “We are keen to provide change during Eid through a reserve sufficient for a period exceeding a year and a half.”
