Egypt to establish an integrated medical city on an area of 230 acres

Egypt plans to establish an integrated medical city on an area of 230 acres on Ain Sokhna Road near the New Administrative Capital.

The medical city is scheduled to include 18 specialized medical institutes, with a clinical capacity of more than 4,200 beds, research centers, central laboratories, and complementary medical services, including radiology services and a blood bank, in addition to an integrated residential city for doctors and hotels aimed at attracting medical tourism.


Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar on Friday received representatives of the The China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) in Egypt alongside representatives of the income engineering services company to discuss establishing the medical city.


A statement from the Ministry of Health said that minister expressed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s interest in the project, which represents a major addition to the state’s health system and aims to achieve integration between all medical specialties in one place.


The meeting reviewed the integrated architectural vision for the medical city, with the minister praising the great effort made to develop the architectural vision which clearly demonstrate a close study of the health situation in Egypt.


The statement said that the minister stressed the importance of modern planning for the project so that the scientific, research and medical city becomes a rolemodel to be emulated in Egypt – one that is compatible with all modern medical, scientific and research needs.


The statement confirmed that the medical city will become a major edifice for the training and scientific research system for medical teams, which are the cornerstone of the medical system.


It also assured the importance of providing intensive training for medical teams to hone their skills.
