"We are proud to welcome our very first Airbus A220," said the then CEO of Egypt Air Holding, Ahmed Adel, in September 2019. And he added:  They were the first airline in the Middle East and North Africa to take delivery of the Canadian aircraft and put it into operation.  This is an essential part of "the fleet optimisation plan", the manager continued.

However, the plan has changed fundamentally. The Egyptian airline has taken delivery of all twelve Airbus A220s, which it once ordered as Bombardier C-Series CS300s. However, ten were last on the ground. The state-owned airline had already grounded seven of the twelve jets in March 2023 due to problems with the Pratt & Whitney engines.
