A recent report by "Forbes - Middle East" revealed a list of the 5 richest Arab families by the end of 2022, which did not pass easily in the Arab region, especially in oil-importing countries such as Egypt and Lebanon.

The list was topped by the Sawiris family from Egypt, with a fortune of $11.2 billion, according to real-time statistics by Forbes on December 29, 2022, despite losing $800 million since Forbes launched the 2022 billionaires list last April based on the closings of March 11, 2022.

The Mikati family from Lebanon came in second place with a net worth of $5.6 billion, after it also declined by $800 million in about 9 months. The Mansour family from Egypt came in third place after preserving its wealth of $5.1 billion.

The family of the Algerian billionaire, Issad Rebrab, shares the same arrangement with the Mansour family, as it has the same value of its wealth.

In fifth place is the Hariri family, whose fortune is $ 4.7 billion, which is the same value in this year's annual list of billionaires.

Notably, Forbes has stopped tracking the wealth of Saudi billionaires since 2018.

Figures show that the combined wealth of Arab billionaires decreased by 3.5%  to $65.6 billion on October 5 compared to $68 billion in the billionaires 2022.

The Emirati billionaire founder of Mashreq Bank, Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Ghurair and his family, was the only winner out of 22 Arab billionaires during the past seven months.

Three Arab billionaires lost $200 million each, to be ranked fifth among the biggest Arab losers, namely: Egyptian Mohamed al-Fayed, owner of the Ritz Hotel in Paris, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of al-Faisal Holding Company, Qatari Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, and Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, and his family.

The owner of the Emirati Al-Futtaim group, Abdullah Al-Futtaim and the family, ranked eighth among the Arab billionaires, with his fortune dropping by $100 million.
