The current number of ATMs for the differently-abled represents 22 percent of total ATMs in Egypt and surpasses the 10 percent quota stipulated by the CBE.

Similarly, the number of banking cadres trained in sign language to ensure easy handling of hearing and speech-impaired customers soared to 7,060 in December from around 5,000 in January.

The percentage of bank branches equipped to serve this segment of customers rose to 18 percent of the total branch network in Egypt, as shown in the data released today, from around 10 percent announced in January.

“These efforts have doubled the number of differently-abled bank customers during 2023,” the CBE said.

The central bank reaffirmed its “commitment to promote and support financial inclusion for all of society, within the framework of Egypt’s Vision 2030.”
