Egyptian agricultural exports reach 5.669M tons, up 29.2% during 2022/2023 season

Egypt’s trade of crops and other agricultural items witnessed a strong growth during the 2022/2023 season, reporting an increase of 24.6 percent in agricultural exports to hit $3.566 billion, according to the Agriculture Export Council.


Exports rose significantly by 29.2 percent to reach 5.669 million tons during the season, compared to the 4.385 million tons recorded in the previous season.


Agricultural exports to Arab countries amounted to 42 percent of the sector’s export volume at 2.355 million tons, valued at $1.314 billion or 37 percent of Egypt’s total agricultural trade value.


Non-EU European countries were recorded as importing 20 percent of total export volume at 1.108 million tons, worth $807 million, representing 23 percent of the sector’s export value.


Agricultural exports to EU states reached 26 percent of export value at $917 million with 25 percent of total volume at 1.410 million tons.


Exports to Asia were reported at $367 million with around 614,000 tons, while African countries imported crops valued at $63 million, weighing 109,000 tons.


In a previous statement, the council revealed that citrus fruit exports hit $988 million during the 2022/2023 season with 1.987 million tons. Citrus exports comprised 35 percent of the total agricultural export volume and 28 percent of the sector’s overall export value.
