Egypt, ICAO sign agreement to restructure and design Egyptian airspace

The agreement aims to improve all areas of safety in the civil aviation facility, and provide effective solutions for redesigning Egyptian airspace.

The head of the Egyptian Civil Aviation Authority, Amr al-Sharkawy, and the Secretary-General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Juan Carlos Salazar on Tuesday signed a technical support agreement to restructure and redesign Egypt’s airspace.



This came during the reception of the Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation, Mohamed Abbas Helmy, with Salazar and his accompanying delegation, at the ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital – in conjunction with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Egypt hosting the regional office of the ICAO.


The agreement aims to improve all areas of safety in the civil aviation facility, and provide effective solutions for redesigning Egyptian airspace and planning air routes which enhances the reduction of flight time, achieves flexibility in Egyptian airspace more efficiently, and reduces the percentage of carbon emissions.
