The factory is designed to produce around one million units of gas cylinders annually for foreign export.

Both companies are also looking at the probability of future expansion in the Egyptian market after obtaining all the required approvals from the authorities.

Rungas and Sidpec will now proceed with the project’s feasibility studies, before starting construction work, the statement added.

Egypt has provided 14.2 million housing units with natural gas nationwide since the beginning of the Egyptian gas delivery project in 1980, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources stated in September.

Over the past nine years alone, Egypt has connected 8 million housing units to the natural gas grid.

The country has achieved an average natural gas production rate of 6.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcf/d) during the fiscal year 2022/23, which ended in June.
