A look at the Benban solar project, hailed as best in the world

Egypt has made a massive step forward regarding the diversification of its renewable energy sources during the past few years, by implementing the Benban solar project to generate electricity from solar energy in Aswan Governorate.

Named the best in the world in terms of operating efficiency, the project won the Government Excellence Award and received global attention after being chosen as the World Capital of Solar Energy.

Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker said that Egypt ranks fourth globally in having the largest stations to generate power from solar energy, thanks to the Benban solar park’s capacity of 2000 megawatts.
