Egypt has captured around 50 percent of the world's jasmine production, according to a report released on Monday by the Information and Decision Support Center of the Cabinet (IDSC).

The global production of jasmine is approximately 14 tons, with Egypt producing about 7 tons.

The report revealed that 75 percent of jasmine production comes from a single village. According to the report's data, the village of "Shibra Belula Al-Sakhawia" produces around 4 tons of jasmine.

The village, located in the Qutur district of the Gharbia Governorate, is known for its jasmine cultivation.

Jasmine flowers are used in the production of many perfumes, including well-known brands.

Many experts believe that despite the importance of jasmine flowers in the production of various global brand perfumes, their price is very low, largely due to competition with India, according to the report.
