Al-Moselhi:Ministry of Supply Bought 3.6 Million Tons of Local –produced Wheat

Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, said that quantities of local-produced wheat have been purchased from farmers, amounting to 3.6 million tons, since the start of the supply season last April, with the inception of harvesting early types of wheat by the spring of each year.

The minister added, in statements made to the "CNBC Arabia" satellite channel, that the state is now close to achieving the target of buying local wheat during the current year, which amounts to 4 million tons.

The Minister of Supply confirmed that the government import of wheat amounted to 3.5 million tons from various sources around the world, from the beginning of the fiscal year 2022-2023, until now.

He indicated that the country's reserves of wheat are sufficient for consumption for a period of up to 6 months.
