1.6 mln citizens benefited from Tahya Misr Fund in Q1 2023
Since its inception and until March 2023, the fund has injected over EGP 22 bln into various sectors nationwide, among them allocations to healthcare and urban development, a presidential statement said in March.
Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stressed on Monday the importance of Tahya Misr Fund, pointing out that it has become a major axis in the comprehensive development process the state has been carrying out throughout the past eight years.
In April, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi ordered an almost 50 percent increase in appropriations for various subsidy and social protection programmes in the budget for the upcoming FY2023/2024 in order "to ease the burden on citizens during the global inflation wave."
The Tahya Misr Fund was established by President El-Sisi in 2015 to help poor communities and impoverished villages in the country through development projects.
The fund has also provided assistance in cases of crises at the regional level, providing aid in the reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip as well as sending medical convoys to a number of African countries.
