Egypt, IFC discuss joint cooperation in health sector

The parties agreed to develop a strategic plan to attract local and international investment in the health system.

Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar received Sheikh Omar Sylla, the Regional Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for North Africa, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss strengthening cooperation in the health sector, and agreeing to develop a strategic plan to attract local and international investment in the health system.


During the meeting, Abdel Ghaffar appreciated the efforts of corporation, expressing thanks and appreciation to them, given their continuous efforts and contributions to cooperate with the Egyptian state in improving and raising the efficiency of the quality of health systems, during the past periods, through the establishment of joint working groups between the two sides, in order to provide the best health and treatment care to Egyptian citizens, in line with reaching the target of Egypt’s Vision 2030.


Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, said that the meeting dealt with discussing cooperation with international finance in developing concepts and an investment map to identify investment opportunities in all areas of health care, in addition to setting future plans that would market using attractive methods for health services, which will yield with its fruits in encouraging the consolidation of partnerships between the public and private sectors, as well as bringing foreign investments to Egypt.


He noted that the minister directed during the meeting the need to benefit from successful and pioneering models locally and internationally in the health investment file. 


The meeting also touched on strengthening cooperation in the field of training medical teams, with the aim of exchanging scientific experiences and refining the skills of human cadres, in a way that ensures improving the level of health performance in medical facilities nationwide.


Abdel Ghaffar pointed to the discussion of cooperation in the field of raising the efficiency of health care units throughout the republic, as well as ways of partnership in the field of health culture and awareness of public health and epidemiology, and benefiting from the expertise of the concerned authorities in this field.
