President El-Sisi reviews national agricultural production and land reclamation project in new Delta

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly,  Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Mr. El-Sayyed El-Qusseir, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Dr. Hani Sewilam, President's  Adviser for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Head of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Authority Lieutenant General Ahmed Al-Shazly, Director General of the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO) Major General Walid Abul-Magd, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Major General Ahmad al-Azazi, Chairman of Watania for Agriculture and Desert Land Reclamation Major General Tawfiq Samy and Chairman of Watania contracting company Major General Karam Salem.


The Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, said President El-Sisi followed-up on the status of implementation of the national agricultural production and land reclamation project in New Delta, as part of the State’s strategy to increase the area of agricultural land. 


President El-Sisi was briefed on efforts to develop the necessary infrastructure and provide machinery and equipment for modern irrigation methods, water plants and agricultural mechanization. The President gave directives to continue intensive coordination among the relevant entities and sectors to complete the project, drawing on the agricultural methods that correspond with the nature of the lands and climate in the area. The President also stressed the use of modern irrigation systems within the framework of rationalizing water consumption and improving water management efficiency, in pursuit of the sought strategic objective, in addition to new areas of agricultural land. This shall help enhance the agricultural production sector, particularly strategic crops, in addition to the establishment of new urban communities that accommodate population growth, offer more job opportunities and increase citizen's income.
