Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate and VeryNile join forces to intercept plastic pollution in the Nile river

Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate (AFGRE), Egypt’s leading real estate developer, announced its recent partnership with VeryNile on a Nile River cleanup campaign focused on intercepting plastic waste in the river. The campaign, which took place in Qursaya Island, aimed at raising awareness of the importance of protecting the Nile and the environment against pollution. The cleanup campaign took place on 21st of February 2023, where more than 40 of the group’s employees voluntarily participated in the campaign.


On the sidelines of the cleanup initiative, the group’s participants also had the chance to attend a workshop which primarily focused on recycling. The workshop highlighted the importance of proper disposal of plastic waste, which has been on the rise in recent years, posing a significant threat to marine life, migratory birds, and human health.


Commenting on this initiative, Eng. Ashraf Ezz El Din, Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate (AFGRE), said: “We are immensely proud of our collaboration with VeryNile, one of the most important youth initiatives that serve a noble goal. Our choice to collaborate with this young initiative is driven by our interest in their passion to develop sustainable methods to clean the Nile River from plastic waste while educating the community on the importance of safe waste disposal.”
