The Secretary-General of the Damietta Fishermen Syndicate Ahmed El-Maghrabi announced an increase in fishing fees for amateur fishermen who do not own a boat, so that the value of the fee becomes EGP 217 instead of EGP 10, an increase of 2000%.

The Secretary General of the Fishermen’s Syndicate stated that fishing will not be allowed for those who do not have a fishing permit. He pointed out that there are fees for fishing by boat, but the fees vary according to the power of the boat’s motor and sometimes reach the level of EGP 2000.

He explained that the new prices were implemented as of the beginning of January 2023.

In a related context, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation stated imposing a 20% fine on tickets' violators for viewing the High Dam.

The ministry confirmed that in the event of any individual without a ticket, it is reported to return to the main collection point at the entrance to the dam or to collect the ticket value in addition to 20%, meaning that this increase is being reported due to violators only.
