Khartoum is discussing a major agricultural project with Egypt

Observers expect Sudan’s Sovereign Council to review and approve an initiative to jointly cultivate 3 million acres between Egypt and Sudan, Sudanese news agency SUNA reported.


The initiative was announced by the Union of Arab Exporters, whose general secretary, Musab Abdul Hamid Rashid, said that it aims to establish a partnership between Sudanese and Egyptian families and will be presented to the Sovereign Council at the meetings of the Economic Unity Council to be held in Khartoum.


Rashid explained that the initiative targets 100,000 Egyptian and Sudanese families, 50,000 families in each country, to participate in the cultivation of 3 million feddans.


The initiative is not limited to the idea of ​​agriculture, even if this is the main goal, rather, it has another goal, namely the creation of mixed residential cities between Egyptians and Sudanese who will participate in a large agricultural project. For the success of the project, the initiative called for the creation of an Agricultural Technology Company to support it.
