Egypt's mobile market losses 800,000 clients in June

Mobile internet was used by 34.4 percent of all mobile subscribers, up by 1.8 percent. The number of USB modem devices remained unchanged at 3.48m.

The Egyptian mobile market lost 800,000 customers in June, dropping to 95.7 million from 96.5 million in May, reports the Daily News citing a report by the ministry of communications and information technology. The internet market added about 1.6 million new clients in June, and the number of mobile internet users increased by 4.7 percent, from 31.3 million in May to 32.8 million in June.

According to the report, mobile internet was used by 34.4 percent of all mobile subscribers, up by 1.8 percent. The number of USB modem devices remained unchanged at 3.48 million.

There was 1.5 percent growth in the number of ADSL users, increasing from 5.73 million in May to 5.83 million in June. Greater Cairo accounted for the largest share of ADSL users, at 40 percent, followed by the Delta with 31 percent. Upper Egypt accounted for 13 percent of total ADSL users, then Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh with 10 percent, and finally the Suez Canal and Red Sea cities with 6 percent
