Egypt concludes agreement with UK company on airport security protection

Experts of the UK company will train new security personnel for the country’s airports.

The Egyptian company Falcon that is engaged in ensuring security at the country’s airports signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday with the UK company Restrata for consulting and training, specializing in security technologies, Egypt’s Civil Aviation Ministry reported on Tuesday. The document was signed in the presence of Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister Sherif Fathi.

In particular, experts of the UK company will train new security personnel for the country’s airports. First of all, the Falcon employees will be trained the basics of checking passengers and luggage inspection at all stages. In addition, Restrata experts will provide training, refresher courses and oversee the personnel work.

The parties also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a joint training center for aviation security.

On Monday, the CEO of the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation, Ismail Abu al-Izz, said that Egypt has fulfilled all Russia’s requirements concerning airport security and the country’s ministry of civil aviation was expecting Russian inspectors. He said the Egyptian side installed modern luggage check systems and modernized indoors and outdoors surveillance cameras to a sum of 417 million Egyptian punds (more than $46 million).
