Egypt, Vodafone CEO mull expansion of investments

Vodafone intends, over the next three years, to employ nearly 3,000 Egyptian youth through an investment plan of up to EGP 9 billion.

Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser ElKady has held talks with Vodafone's Regional CEO for Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific Region Serpil Timuray where they discussed the ICT sector latest developments and means to expand Vodafone's investments in Egypt.

ElKady said Vodafone was keen, in the recent period, to expand its business base and increase its investments to serve its customers through Egypt. The minister also highlighted the ministry's support for the efforts exerted to provide facilitations necessary for creating appropriate investment climate, and improve work environment for telecom operators and service providers. He also referred to the outsourcing industry's growth, which is paid due consideration by the sector to promote its development as one of the most important components of the ICT sector in Egypt.
