Egypt's ranking in starting a business slipped from 73 to 69 in the Doing Business 2016 report issued Tuesday by the World Bank, as the country's overall ranking out of 189 countries fell to 131, losing five positions compared to last year.

Although Egypt's overall ranking published in last year's report was 112, the ranking was altered following changes introduced to the methodology employed this year which saw the addition of new indices including getting electricity and enforcing contracts.

The only Egyptian city covered in this report is the capital, Cairo.

Highlighting the "one economy [that] stands out in every other region for its improvement," the report says that in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), this economy was Egypt.

At 131, Egypt is outranked by many of its neighbours. Gulf neighbours Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia are doing much better, ranking at 65, 68 and 82 respectively. Egypt is even surpassed by the West Bank and the beseiged Gaza, which ranked 129.
