Egypt’s 2014 trade with COMESA totals $2.6 billion

Egypt’s Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil has disclosed that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and the Common Market of Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), totaled $ 2.6 billion, through 2014.

During a meeting with Sindiso Ndema Ngwenya, Secretary-General of COMESA on Friday in Cairo, Kabil noted that Egypt wanted to strengthen and expand areas of cooperation and open new horizons for trade and investment with all African countries and work to open more markets for Egyptian products in the African continent during the next few years.

According to Kabil, the ministry continues with its contacts with the secretariats of COMESA and SADC as well as the East African Community to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and the benefit of free trade agreement between the three economic blocs that was signed in Sharm el Sheikh last June.
