Egypt has no intention to change free economy course, Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab said on Wednesday 2/7/2014 during a meeting held by the General Union of Chambers of Commerce and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Present at the meeting were a number of current and former ministers and governors and several businessmen along with former PM Hazem el-Beblawy.

Mahlab denied reports circulated the past weeks about the elimination of the free market.

"Egypt supports and stands by the free market, honest trade and openness," Mahlab stressed.

He noted that the government is working to create a proper environment to take the necessary steps to develop the Egyptian economy and push the wheels of development.

"The first step of development is the real legislative reform," Mahlab said.
